Projekt Ilaiyaraaja Season III — 123/365 — Oorariya Per Edutha

One of the constant criticism that was levied against Chithra was that she wasn’t able to sing fast-paced and folk songs. Time and again, she disproved these over the years with hits like Mariyamma (from Karagatakkaran), Singalathu Chinnakuyile (from Punnagai Mannan) and Ilaiyaraaja did push Chithra to the limits as he did with some of his favourite singers.

This song is relatively a cakewalk if you consider Chithra’s prowess but you can hear how much she enjoys singing it with her extra emphasis in certain lines that gives the necessary oomph the song needs. On the orchestration of the song, the tune is a proper folk song but the interludes are so modern with a lot of synth and strings.
